Andrew Sorensen | Independent
Remember the case of John Eisenman? The one who said he saved his daughter from her sex trafficker boyfriend? You HAVE TO read about this case (or you can listen to the episode) and see if John did the right thing. You can find out about it here first, then come back to this post:
In 2020, 19-year-old Andrew Sorensen was brutally murdered, his body discovered nearly a year later in the trunk of an abandoned car in Spokane, Washington. What initially seemed like a mystery soon unfolded into a disturbing tale of revenge. John Eisenman, 60, the father of Andrew’s then-girlfriend, confessed to killing him, claiming Andrew had sold his daughter to a sex trafficking ring in Seattle. Despite John’s claims, investigators found no evidence linking Andrew to any trafficking crimes.
Now, here’s a bit of an update:
A woman named Brenda Kross is being held at the Spokane County Jail on a first-degree murder charge, with a bail of $1 million.
Who is Brenda Kross and what could she possibly have to do with the aforementioned case?
Brenda is John’s fiancé.
While John had already been arrested and confessed to the killing, the full extent of Brenda’s involvement came to light after a disturbing confession she made at her job. According to court documents, On August 18, 2022, Brenda met with a Human Resources (HR) employee and a Loss Prevention employee at her job. Brenda had requested a leave of absence, citing ongoing mental health struggles and difficulty coping with John’s arrest. After the call with the loss prevention employee ended, Brenda continued talking to the HR employee, revealing disturbing details about her involvement in Andrew’s death.
Brenda reportedly asked the HR employee multiple times if there were cameras or recording devices in the room. After being assured there were none, Brenda admitted,
“I was there when Eisenman killed Sorensen.”
She then told the HR employee that she knew she shouldn’t be telling them about her involvement, but “she felt she was a good listener.”
She explained that John had not mentioned her to the police because “both of them couldn’t go to jail,” and “one of them needed to care for her children.”
She described the murder in detail, even recalling that the song “Crying, Crying, Crying” played while they killed Andrew. According to Brenda, they laughed and sang while Andrew pleaded for his life.
“I got a few good swings at Sorensen with a knuckle ring right to his face.”
After beating and stabbing Andrew, the pair placed his body in the trunk of Brenda’s car. John then dropped Brenda off at their home while he took the car to East Everett Avenue, where it remained abandoned for nearly a year.
Despite the confession, Brenda seemed confident that the police wouldn’t be able to arrest her.
“Eisenman already took the blame, and they couldn’t prove anything because Sorensen had been dead for so long.”
“They can’t arrest me based on fingerprints found on the car.”
She added that with John’s confession and Andrew’s body being in such a decomposed state after a year,
“they can’t prove a thing, so I’m off the hook.”
When the HR employee pointed out that Brenda didn’t seem to feel guilty, Brenda replied coldly that she wouldn’t speak to police because,
“Sorensen got what he deserved.”
Brenda emphasized to the HR employee that their conversation was confidential so the HR employee couldn’t go to the police, and that the police couldn’t do anything even if they found out.
“the good news was that the police couldn’t do anything about it anyway,”
After returning to work several days later, Brenda approached the HR employee again, reminding her,
“You remember our conversation never happened, right?”
On September 15, 2022, Brenda was arrested after the HR employee went to the police, reporting her confession. Brenda was charged with first-degree murder, and her bail was set at $1 million.
Both John and Brenda now face separate charges related to Andrew’s murder. John, who had admitted to the killing, awaits trial where he faces the possibility of life imprisonment without parole.
In court, Brenda pleaded not guilty to the charges. She stated,
“I haven’t been told any of the details at all of what new evidence or anything, of why they pulled me in.”
