Florida Man Friday | Husband Stabs Intruder to Death After Wife is Shot in the Face & One Other Case | Lindsey Glenn

On May 16, 2024, a 69-year-old Florida man acted in self-defense, fatally stabbing an intruder who shot his wife in their Avon Park home. The incident unfolded when 62-year-old Lindsey Glenn tricked the elderly couple into letting him inside their home on Joe Hilton Street. Once inside, Glenn pulled out a gun and shot the woman in the face, causing severe injuries.

In a desperate attempt to defend his wife, the husband grabbed a seven-inch garden knife and repeatedly stabbed Glenn, ultimately killing him. The woman, despite her critical injuries, managed to seek help from a neighbor, while the husband sustained minor injuries in the struggle.

When police arrived on the scene, they found Glenn dead from multiple stab wounds. Sheriff Paul Blackman described the result of the struggle, stating, 

“Once armed with the knife, he went to work on Mr. Lindsey Glenn… Glenn was cut to pieces and very much deceased by the time deputies could get to him.” 

The woman is reported to be in stable condition at a local trauma center, and her husband was treated for minor injuries before being released from the hospital. Authorities have praised the husband’s quick thinking and bravery during the violent encounter.

“I would like to commend the male victim for his bravery and quick action in defending his wife and their home,” said Sheriff Blackman.

Glenn had a long history of criminal activity, with convictions dating back to 1979. Sheriff Blackman emphasized this point, noting that Glenn had been convicted of at least 12 felonies over the years, including burglary and robbery. These convictions resulted in Glenn serving multiple prison sentences. The Sheriff underscored the danger Glenn posed, praising the husband’s decisive action that prevented further harm.

The Highlands County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, but no charges are expected to be filed against the husband, as it is being considered a clear case of self-defense.
