Denise Nicole Malcolm | WSVN News
On August 31, 2024, a14-year-old boy, one of two twin brothers, dialed 911 after hearing gunshots in his family home. He had been eating Chinese food and listening to music in his room when he heard the shots. When he went to investigate, he discovered his father, 52-year-old Rohan Malcolm, laying on the floor with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. His mother, 45-year-old Denise Nicole Malcolm, stood in the doorway with a handgun in her hand.
As police arrived on the scene, they commanded everyone within the house to exit. The two boys left the house safely, but moments later, officers heard a final gunshot. Inside, they found Rohan
“lying on his back in a bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds to his body” and “blood pooling underneath him. “They checked his pulse for signs of life but did not find any.”
Denise was quickly arrested.
The Malcolms’ marriage had been strained for years, marked by infidelity and escalating arguments — due to Rohan’s infidelity. According to their children’s reports to police, the couple had been sleeping in separate bedrooms by this time. Denise told police that she was “at her wits’ end” after years of deceit and had finally reached her breaking point on the day of the murder.
The argument that led to the fatal shooting began after Denise had gotten home from shopping for a Labor Day barbecue. Rohan informed her that he was heading to Port Saint Lucie with friends, however; Denise interpreted this as an excuse to meet another woman. After a 45-minute heated argument, Denise got a handgun from her bedroom closet and shot her husband multiple times.
Denise told police that she initially shot Rohan in the shoulder. When she realized what she’d done, she considered taking her own life. However, after hearing something Rohan said, she instead shot him one final time. She then placed the gun on a dresser and waited for police to arrive.
Following her arrest, Denise was charged with one count of premeditated murder and was held without bond in Broward County Jail.
