In an interesting update, Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a name synonymous with one of the most notorious true crime stories of our time, is expecting her first child with boyfriend Ken Urker. Gypsy Rose, 32, made this emotional announcement on her YouTube channel on Tuesday, July 9, marking a new chapter in her life.
The Journey of Gypsy Rose Blanchard
Gypsy Rose’s life is a true crime documentary — one of Love and Murder that captured national attention. She endured years of medical abuse at the hands of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, who suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy. This psychological disorder drove Dee Dee to subject Gypsy to unnecessary medical treatments and convince the world that her daughter was very sick.
Her story turned to a different kind of crime in 2015 when Gypsy, desperate for her freedom, conspired with her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn to murder her mother. Gypsy supplied the knife, and Godejohn carried out the murder. Following the killing, they fled to Wisconsin but were quickly caught and arrested. While Godejohn is serving a life sentence, Gypsy was given a lighter sentence due to the abuse she had endured.

A New Beginning
Fast forward to 2023, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has been released from prison and is now preparing to become a mother. In her heartfelt YouTube video titled “I’m Pregnant, My Journey So Far,” Gypsy shares,
“I know the rumors have been flying around for quite some time now, and I’m happy to announce that I am 11 weeks pregnant.”
“Ken and I are expecting our very first child come January of 2025. This was not planned at all; it was completely unexpected, but we’re both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood.”
Facing Doubts and Embracing Motherhood
Gypsy addresses the skepticism she’s encountered from her followers.
“I know that there are going to be people who feel like I’m not ready to be a mother, and I don’t know if anyone’s really ready to be a mother.”
Through tears, she expresses her deep desire to be a loving and supportive mother.
“All the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby. I am a mother now, I am happy, and I just want to be a good mother for my child. I want to be everything my mother wasn’t.”
Rekindling Romance
Gypsy and Urker met while she was in prison, starting out as pen pals. Urker proposed in 2018, but their relationship faced challenges and ended before she was released. When she was released, Gypsy was married Ryan Anderson, a relationship that eventually left through divorce.
Gypsy recalls how she and Urker found their way back to each other.
“Ken and I reconnected as friends. It wasn’t like, jump out of a marriage and then let me meet up with you, and boom, we’re in a relationship. We had kept a friendship for the longest time.”
A Family United
With the help of Gypsy’s stepmother, Kristy Blanchard, Urker has since moved to Louisiana to be with Gypsy.
“Gypsy will finally get her happily ever after,” Kristy told PEOPLE. “Ken’s moving to New Orleans to be with her soon. He found a place. Gypsy is so excited to have him closer. A love like theirs comes once in a lifetime.”
Looking Forward
As Gypsy Rose Blanchard embraces her new role, she remains resolute about her ability to be a good mother. She dismisses any fears that she might repeat her mother’s abusive behavior.
“Whenever someone says, ‘Do you think that because of what you went through, you’re going to do that to your kids?’ I say, ‘You know what? Absolutely not.’”
With years of therapy and self-work behind her, Gypsy is determined to provide her child with the love and care she never received.
“It’s an amazing feeling when your whole world shifts and suddenly it’s not about you. Everything that has ever happened to me in my life suddenly doesn’t matter because it all led me to be who I am today and it all led me to this moment right here, right now. And that’s a blessing.”
As we follow Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s journey from the dark shadows of her past to her hopeful promise of motherhood, her story remains a compelling testament to resilience and the transformative power of love.
I only hope the best for Gypsy’s upcoming child.
