Char’s in the midst of moving and I’m by myself so today we’re doing something a bit different. I didn’t want to leave yall without a story so we’re gonna be talking about a quick, insane case that teaches you never to meet someone off of social media. This is the case of Valerie Rosario

Now on to the case
On February 7, 2022 Valarie Rosario met a guy off of Instagram and invited him over to her apartment at 1 am. Isn’t this some kind of HUGE red flag? You invite a stranger over at 1 am to your apartment? I’m pretty sure she didn’t have anyone else in the house! Serial Killer vibes much? Just making it that easy!
Valerie lived in Manhattan’s Lower East Side with her family; her mom and brother. Hmm I wonder where they were at this time. This area is the Bronx in New York for those who didn’t know, like me.
So this guy, who was never named, gets there, and went into the house. Valerie later said that she reached out to him because this guy would usually show off wads and wads of money on his social media. Umm more red flags. How do you know someone who does that isn’t fishing for people to lure in? How do you know those wads of cash isn’t just a hundred on the outside and cotton or ones on the inside? Think about your own money and not someone else’s.
After the guy comes in the apartment, Valarie started getting comfortable ..
AND THEN THREE MEN BARGED INTO THE APARTMENT. Plot. Twist. These men were armed and were originally waiting outside of the apartment. They’d actually followed him inside, but he didn’t notice.
When they came in, they started pistol-whipping the guy. They then stripped him down and put him in a bathtub. After they did that, they started pouring “flammable substances on him, and burned him with a flame.” Wait – what kind of craziness is going on? They also stabbed him multiple times in his legs, body and back.
Think about this! He’s burned all over his body, beaten with guns, and then they are stabbing him all over?! And that’s not it! They start hitting him with the blade of the knife all over his body. Can you even imagine the pain?! I can’t even fathom.
This horrible scene lasted for HOURS before the assailants moved the man to another location and used his cell to call his family. Once they called his family, via FaceTime might I add, they had the guy’s brother watch as one of the assailant’s, who was masked by this time, “cut into the victim” OMGod – before demanding a ransom. So the reason now comes out as to why all of this is even happening. After they cut into the victim, they told the brother, “Give us one hundred thousand dollars or we will kill him.” Now, this begs my question – like I said in the beginning, how do you know that the wad of cash in the pictures wasn’t all a lie? Social media is not reality. I don’t know how people don’t understand this. Just because someone shows a picture or says something online, doesn’t make it real!
Well anyway, instead of negotiating with these sadistic people, the brother called the cops. SING LIKE A BIRD! The police were able to use the cell phone to track down one of the assailants to a location in Queens. Idiots. Don’t you watch movies or listen to true crime podcasts? That’s your bad LOL. They found them inside of a van. The victim was “unconscious, wrapped in a blanket with tape covering his mouth” and “barely breathing” and he was being watched over by some guy who had a knife. It later came out that this assailant’s name was Javier Vargas. What do you think happened when the cops opened the door? Javier is standing there with a knife in one hand and the unconscious man at his feet. His eyes open wide and Javier says, “Hi there officers. This….this isn’t what it looks like. This knife isn’t mine. My friend handed it to me and told me to wait here. Oh this guy at my feet? Umm… GIMME A SECOND! I’M THINKING!”
The victim was then rushed to hospital. At the hospital, he was treated for stab wounds and burns to his face, body, and legs.
Valerie Rosario, Javier Vargas, and another suspect, identified as Michael Candelario, were arrested by the authorities on Wednesday, February 9th. The men were charged with attempted murder, assault, robbery, kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment.
Valerie was charged with kidnapping and attempted murder. Why was she charged differently? Wouldn’t you think that all of them would be charged the same? I guess maybe it could be argued, POSSIBLY, that she didn’t physically help? This is allegedly because it wasn’t reported who did what.
Her defense attorney, Raymond Loving, said that Valerie is denying “all the allegations that have been leveled against her.” He requested that Valerie be “launched on her personal recognizance” because – according to him – she lives with her mother and brother and she also has a full-time job at a dentist’s office. To which I say SO. The hell does that have to do with anything. She still lured a man over and helped him be victimized for HOURS in HER apartment. What kind of defense was that?! The ADA Kluger requested Valerie be remanded to custody and was granted this.
Everyone is being held without bail.
The last update I see on this case was on March 15th which said that everyone is still in custody and the case will be presented before a grand jury on Tuesday. Now March 15th was a Tuesday so I’m wondering if it was presented that day or the Tuesday of March 22nd.
Before I go, I want to remind you not to post pictures of you with money or your credit cards or paychecks on social media.
Also, if you’re meeting someone from online, “RAINN recommends that people not only meet in a public space but also tell friends where they’re going. Additionally, the organization says it’s best to arrange separate transportation.”
And that is the quick and crazy story of Valarie Rosario and the victim she lured from social media.
