Hey LaMs Ky here, back with another Ky Rants.

A Florida man, Keith Agee, stands accused of the murder of Brooklyn Sims, the mother of his two-year-old daughter. What’s even more disturbing is the alleged involvement of Keith’s own mother, Sheila Agee, who is now facing charges of being an accomplice to first-degree murder.

The story begins with a series of text messages exchanged between Sheila and Keith: “Ok then stop texting me I’m working. Do whatever you want to do,” she wrote, dismissing the potential consequences of her son’s actions. You see, he was talking to her about murdering 18 year old Brooklyn Sims, “It don’t affect me either f—ing way.” Sheila texted.

On the day of the incident, Keith Agee drove to a Home Depot store on the 5300 block of Davis Highway in Florida, where Brooklyn was employed as a contract worker. There he found Brooklyn in aisle 52, and witnesses at the scene reported that Keith said something to Brooklyn before opening fire, firing five shots into her that killed her. Two other individuals, also employees of the store, sustained injuries while trying to escape the gunfire.

Keith was arrested at a nearby Mellow Mushroom restaurant, just a mile from the crime scene. While he cooperated with investigators, most of his statement remains undisclosed to the public.

Brooklyn Sims was more than just a casualty; she was a beloved daughter, a doting mother, and a cherished friend. Survivors describe her as a devoted mother who had recently been focused on co-parenting her two-year-old daughter with Keith. Those who knew her said that her life was centered around her child, and her family and friends remember her as an exceptional person.

“It was a rough situation between them trying to be together. Recently she’s just been trying to co-parent with him. That’s all she kind of wanted to do. … All she ever talked about was that baby. Kacey is and was her life.”

Xia Xang Parnell, one of the survivors of the attack, admits that even passing by a Home Depot store triggers panic attacks, “Right now, mentally, I can’t take it. I see a Home Depot and it sends me to a panic attack.”

Surprisingly, this case is not Keith’s first brush with the law. Court records reveal that two women had previously filed petitions for protection from abuse orders against him in early 2023 – February 15 – citing threats, violence, and property damage. The court granted these orders on March 21. Agee had also faced domestic violence charges in the 3rd degree in Mobile, Alabama, prior to these incidents with a charge on April 14, 2022, although both cases were ultimately dropped.

One woman said that Keith threatened her, saying that he would shoot and kill her as he was driving past her home.

Another woman said that while she was at work, he showed up and busted out her windshield. He allegedly then stomped on her, pushed her, and threatened to shoot her mother.

Sheila attened a baloon release that was done in hone of Brooklyn.

She was arrested and faces a count of principal to first degree murder. She is now in the the Washington County Jail in Alabana and waiting to be extraditing to Escambia Count Florida.

What do you think of this case? Do you think the mother should have been charged as well?
