In our latest midweek mini true crime story of Love and Murder, we delve into two heart-wrenching cases. The first case is the tragic story of Ariel Garcia, a four-year-old boy from Everett, Washington, whose life was brutally cut short.
On March 27, 2024, Ariel’s grandmother reported him missing under suspicious circumstances. This report triggered an extensive search by state, local, and federal investigators. The search revealed that Ariel was last seen that morning, but it wasn’t until later in the day that the true horror of his disappearance began to unfold. Despite not meeting the criteria for an Amber Alert, the Washington State Patrol issued an endangered missing person advisory to the local media due to the alarming situation.
The grandmother’s concern was not unfounded. Upon returning to her apartment, she found a large amount of blood and learned from her daughter, Janet Garcia, that Ariel had allegedly hit his head that morning. Janet’s story, however, was riddled with inconsistencies. She claimed to have taken Ariel to the hospital but left due to a long wait time, only to drop him off at home and leave. Her story raised red flags, especially when investigators found blood on her clothing and discovered she was embroiled in a custody dispute with her mother.
Tragically, on March 28, Ariel’s body was found along Interstate 5 in the Tacoma area, with 41 sharp force wounds. The manner of death was ruled as homicidal violence. The investigation pointed to Janet as the perpetrator, leading to her arrest and subsequent charge of first-degree murder. The community, including Everett’s mayor and police chief, expressed their heartbreak and condolences to Ariel’s family.
In addition to this devastating case, we provide an update on the John Eisenman case. John, who admitted to killing his daughter’s boyfriend under the belief that he was a sex trafficker, now faces new developments. His fiancée, Brenda Cross, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Brenda’s shocking confession to an HR employee revealed her involvement in the crime, painting a chilling picture of the events leading to the boyfriend’s death.
